Rage you are stars
pinned against night sky
guiding feet going somewhere
dangerous and necessary and now
You push hot against ribcage
cradle heart racing
my honed tongue your tool
your breath is mine and we are wondrous
and ordinary
But sometimes fear steals my silverfire tongue
and I cannot even call your name, Rage
my mouth forgets your shape
and I can't bring you back to rest behind my teeth
I can't bring you back
I can't bring you back
I can't bring you back until I speak the silences
of privilege
of whiteness
that allow my tongue to lay fallow/say nothing
and to forget
because I'm not forced to remember
